September Halibut Fishing

Jimmie Jack’s Original Lodge is open in September

Fishing Alaska In September

“We hadn’t been out more than ten minutes when my rod tip dove straight down. I was sure it was a snag, because it wasn’t moving. But then the reel started spinning and the fight was on! That thing took me up and downriver for at least ten minutes before I finally pulled it in. On those flips in the sun I knew it was a big, shiny rainbow, but when I got it in my hands I was sure: I’d found my 30 incher.”

Fishing the Kenai River in September provides the genuine Alaska fishing experience. The cooling weather and start of school means tourist season has ended and the serious angler can enjoy the tranquil outdoors while taking advantage of higher bag limits and the best trout fishing of the season.

Silver salmon limits are increased to 3 per day in September. These fish average around 9 pounds, but you’ll often find yourself fighting a heavier and surprisingly feisty fish. Acrobatic flips are common, and bring your cameras to take pictures of the wildlife while you’re at it.

Full lodging and fishing packages are available in both lodges for early September. For a corporate group that wants to have meetings in the lodge and also provide exciting fishing excursions, this would be an optimal time frame. Ocean halibut trips, full-day all-you-can-catch trout fishing, and silver salmon on the Kenai River will fill out your itinerary with all the action your group can handle.
